A
major commercial and industrial centre, Larissa sits in the middle
of the plain of Thessaly,
a few kilometres off the Athens-Thessaloniki National Road.
Tradition
has it that Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, died here.
With
its three main squares and lovely Pafsilipo Park, this new town
is a model of town
planning. It has three museums - the Christian Museum, devoted to religious
art, and two
exhibiting folk-art.
