The prefecture
of Pella is one of the most captivating areas of Greece. It is the
place which gave
birth to the Macedonian kings, Philip and Alexander; it has significant archaeological
sites of which the most noteworthy is Pella, the first capital of the Macedonian
state.
However, in all the towns of the prefecture, in each and every village or site,
visitors will find
memories from the past of this glorious and historical land which was traversed
by the Via
Egnatia, a meeting point of nations and cultures.

Edessa,
the capital of the prefecture, is built on the plateau
between Vermio and Vora, with a view of the plain, with
abundant vegetation, flower-filled gardens and many water
sources. North-east of the town , at a verdant location
with a beautiful view, the famous waterfalls of Edessa
are found. Under
the biggest waterfall there is a small cave, and close-by the small church
of Analipsi.
The village Agra, which got its name from the Macedonian warrior Tellos Agras,
is situated at a distance of 5 km north-west of the town. One of the first
hydroelectric factories of Greece operates in the area. Visitors will see many
wild ducks, swans and rare bird species at Agras lake which covers an area
of 10,000,000 m2. Aridaia,
is a town famous for its fruit and red peppers, while
Skydra is considered to be one of the biggest fruit-producing
