Lindos town is found at the east side of the island, 55 kms south from the city of Rhodes. Built in the 12th Century B.C., it is now a top class resort, with a fine sandy beach and a tiny lagoon, which reflects the whitewashed houses and the Acropolis on the top.

Lindos is situated in a large bay and faces the fishing village and small resort of Haraki.
Its fine beaches make it a popular tourist and holiday destination.

	Is a settlement characterized as preservable and is kept unchanged since the era of the rich Lindian ship owners of the 15th century. The village contains many houses dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries, which are known as "the houses of the captains". Their architecture and decoration are unique in the Greek world.


	Above the modern town rises the acropolis of Lindos, a natural citadel which was fortified successively by the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Knights of St John and the Ottomans. This makes the site difficult to excavate and interpret archaeologically. The acropolis offers spectacular views of the surrounding harbors and coastline.
